Discover how the Gourmet Blend Herbs & Berries Foraging Treat turns daily feeding into enriching foraging for rabbits and guinea pigs. A balanced, natural reward with clear trade-offs.
Quick answer
The Gourmet Blend Herbs & Berries Foraging Treat is a well-rounded, natural option for rabbit and guinea pig owners who want to encourage foraging behavior without added sugars or fillers.
Why foraging matters for small pets
Rabbits and guinea pigs are natural foragers, spending hours each day searching for varied plants. A treat that mimics this activity supports both mental stimulation and digestive health.
The Gourmet Blend combines ten herbs, flowers, and berries, offering a mix of textures and aromas that encourage natural sniffing and sorting behaviors.
Trade-offs to consider
While this blend is more enriching than a single-ingredient treat, it may not suit every pet. Some rabbits or guinea pigs can be picky about certain herbs or berries, so you may need to introduce it gradually.
The price point is slightly higher than basic hay-based treats, reflecting the variety of ingredients. For owners on a tight budget, a simpler forage mix might be a more economical daily option.
How to decide if this treat is right for your pet
- Check ingredient tolerance: Introduce a small pinch of the blend and watch for any signs of digestive upset or refusal. Most pets adapt well, but individual sensitivities vary. Start with a tiny amount and increase gradually over a week.
- Consider your enrichment goals: If you want to add foraging fun to mealtime, scatter a teaspoon of the blend in their hay or a foraging box. For pets that already get plenty of variety, this treat is a nice occasional bonus. Use as part of a rotation with other safe herbs and hay-based treats.
- Balance with daily diet: Treats should make up no more than 5% of your small pet's daily food intake. This blend is nutrient-dense, so a little goes a long way. Measure portions and reduce pellets slightly on treat days.
